Etymotic hf2 Headset + Earphones

hf2_earphones_mic_plug
The Etymotic hf2, a high-fidelity hands-free headset that is compatible with the Apple iPhone and other mobile phones, is now in Australia.

This looks set to be an audiophile bargain for those in the know as it offers the response accuracy of Etymotic's ER-4 earphones which cost considerably more, plus the highest noise isolation of all competing headsets.

The 3.5mm stereo plug ensures the Etymotic hf2 is compatible with just about any music player on the market, which only broadens it’s appeal. With an RRP of only $249, it is set to be the benchmark of iPhone headsets!

“Testing on New York's subway system has revealed that the hf2 blocks out the vast majority of background noise, giving your music a chance to shine and protecting your hearing by letting you listen to music at a lower volume while still having it sound good.”

“Etymotic rapidly came back with its own, superior alternative: hf2 blends the awesome ER-4P earphones with a slightly better-than-Apple-quality microphone and a similar remote control button. The new model is fully iPhone- and iPod-compatible, looks great, and sells at a very reasonable price given the sound quality of the ER-4Ps, which were long considered our reference standard for iPod in-canal phones.”

Etymotic ER4P

er4
The ER-4P has slightly more forward bass response, and are easier to drive making them suitable for use with portable devices that don't have amplification. 'Stereophile' Magazine summed it up best when they said: "The Etymotic ER4P provides sound quality equal to that of the best loudspeakers money can buy", a big call indeed, but one which is not out of line.

“Properly seated in the canal, the ER-4Ses are capable of bass response better than many loudspeakers. The coupling is crucial; if not properly seated, their sound will be anemic. Get it right and the bass is full—flat to 40Hz, and probably only down about 3dB at 20Hz!”

Etymotic ER6i

6i-black-earphones
Although the ER6 is the least costly model in the Etymotic line up, it provides more accurate sound than the ER6i because the ER6i is 'tuned' to have more bass output for those iPod users who simply have to have more bass. They provide high quality sound, are light weight and well priced.
